5/30/09 Peter's Project:1200 Candlelight Vigil

For World No Tobacco Day, Project:1200 (Peter's grassroots organization) held a candlelight vigil on the steps of the Utah Capitol Building. There were 1,330 candles lit to represent those who lose their lives in Utah every year due to tobacco (first and second hand). There was a remembrance wall and a survivor wall, where names/pictures/stories of loved ones were posted. Utah Representative Paul Ray spoke sharing his experience as a victim of secondhand smoke. He spoke very highly of Peter and the impact he had on the hill in the last session. Peter also spoke. It was so moving to see those candles lit on the steps. Very powerful message. There was a live quartet to provide music before the program, and Brinton Jones of The Devil Whale performed after. The Truth and the Utah Phoenix Alliance were supporters for the event. Way to go, Peter!!! Well done!
